For NY1 Manhattan reporter Michael Scotto, the best way to get to know his beat is to walk it. Fortunately for him, he does that every day during his commute. Living just a short walk from NY1's Chelsea Market headquarters has allowed Michael to experience a new part of his beat almost every day. It's the best way to get to know the city, if you ask him.

Michael started as an intern with NY1 in 2000. Fast forward to 2018: Michael became the recipient of his first Emmy, which he reflects on as the clear highlight of his career thus far. His other work has seen him report on a detective stricken with post-9/11 cancer from inhaling toxic air. Rather than let it bring him down, the detective has made it his cause to spread the word, an inspiration for Michael and all New Yorkers.

When not at the office, Michael can be found with a good book in hand. Or, if the weather is nice, a tennis racket.
