Amanda Farinacci has been NY1’s Staten Island reporter since 2004.

A lifelong Staten Island resident, she has covered thousands of stories in the borough, from the police chokehold death of Eric Garner to the campaign by disgraced former Rep. Michael Grimm to reclaim his old congressional seat.

She has produced many exclusive reports - revealing, for example, that a prominent Staten Island attorney was behind several misleading Facebook pages designed to sway political races in the borough. Her reporting led to the appointment of a special prosecutor and earned Amanda an Emmy nomination.

Her reporting on Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath continues years after the storm. It includes a documentary that aired last June on NY1 called Build It Broke. It revealed how the city’s hurricane rebuilding program is plagued by unnecessary costs and shoddy workmanship. The documentary earned Amanda two more Emmy nominations.
