A bump in the road for drivers and pedestrians on the Upper West Side was smoothed over after residents contacted NY1 For You. Our Susan Jhun has the details.

It's a rough trip traveling along 64th Street between West End Avenue and Riverside Boulevard, where this deep pothole is putting people out.

"A lot of people do their best to avoid it, but sometimes, especially a lot of the cars, there’s no way of really seeing sometimes," said neighbor Clarence Nell-Colon.

"You're going to see the cars taking the pothole, one by one," said Johnathan Pita who works in the area. "And it’s really bad."

"A car that would pass here could have a very serious accident," Weayeeou Dou, a neighbor.

And since the sunken pothole is in the middle of a crosswalk pedestrians are in harm's way too.

"There’s a park right here that has a lot of children after school, and even the high school up the block," said Nell-colon. "So a lot of people can find themselves getting hurt here."

"As soon as possible, it should be fixed," said neighbor Puspa Gautam.

We contacted DOT and the very next day the hole was filled.

A bumpy situation smoothed over.
