A tenant of the East River Houses turned to NY1 for You for help to get NYCHA to fix a massive leak in her home. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following report.

Lisa Rodriguez's bathroom ceiling was corroded and crumbling after the housing tenant took the New York City Housing Authority to court and the agency was ordered to fix a huge leak that was causing the damage.

"Instead of stopping the leak and then plastering, what they did was, they tear down the wall and just re-plastered it," Rodriguez said.

Since then, the frustrated tenant says plaster has been peeling, and the leak, as seen in home video, continues to break up the wall.

Rodriguez, who lives with her asthmatic daughter, Isabell, says doctors told her the conditions are unsafe.

"It's a lot of dirt on the bathtub," Isabell said.

NY1 for You called NYCHA, and they addressed the situation immediately. Rodriguez said they tore down the walls, fixed the leak, put up new walls and plastered everything.

Now, the tenant is waiting for the tub closure, and then, she hopes her bathroom will be back to normal.

NY1 for You will keep you updated.
