Some New York City Housing Authority residents living in deplorable conditions will soon find a new residence thanks to NY1 For You. NY1's Susan Jhun filed this follow up report.

One NYCHA tenant's walls are decrepit and disintegrating.

"The walls started puddling in. Water started coming through the ceiling," says Shukara Ausmore.

A couple of weeks ago we told you about the extensive leaks in Shukara Ausmore's apartment which caused the walls to crack, even creating holes in some spots.

"They chip off the old paint and they paint right over it. And give it a few more months, when it rains, the same thing," says Ausmore.

After meeting with Ausmore, we contacted NYCHA, and a spokeswoman said there's a major construction project underway at Harlem River Houses that includes brick façade repairs, roof replacement and apartment rehabilitation for the top-floor apartments that have been significantly damaged by roof leaks. The spokeswoman told us NYCHA would expedite Ausmore's transfer request while the roof is replaced and the apartment awaits scheduled repairs.

Now, the NYCHA spokeswoman tells us Ausmore is approved for a transfer and is currently awaiting for an apartment to become available at the Harlem River Houses. She went on to say, she's been given the highest priority transfer request and as soon as an appropriate sized apartment is available she will be notified.

That's hope for Ausmore who is eager to no longer have walls caving in around her.

We'll let you know what happens.
