Tenants at one Brooklyn housing complex are fed up after living for months without mailboxes. NY1’s Susan Jhun filed the following report.

“Five months ok and they haven't done anything,” said tenant Vermell Mclver.

Nothing but clean the boarded up mailboxes of residents at The Marcy Houses in Brooklyn. That's the only visible action, NYCHA has taken since last month when tenants contacted us about their mailboxes which had been broken since January.

“The top from the mailbox, it just totally fell off. Then they came in and saw the piece from the mailbox on the floor and they took it with them and said they was gonna fix this ... and they never came back,” said tenant George Santiago.

Residents say it's been an ordeal having to pick up their mail at the post office which is almost a mile away.

“It's not fair for elderly people to go walking to the post office,” said Mclver.

We have a lot of elderly people in this building. They cannot make it to the post office to pick up their mail. And when they get over there it’s a big line.

Tenants contacted us and we called NYCHA. After looking into the situation a spokeswoman said NYCHA was working to resolve the issue and repairs would be completed in three weeks. Now a month later and tenants are still without mailboxes.

We contacted NYCHA again and the spokeswoman said: "We share the frustration of our residents at the pace of the mailbox replacement.  Delays have been attributed to the mailbox manufacturer and we are in constant contact with the vendor for updates to when we can expect work to begin. We are hopeful that the issue will be resolved next week and we apologize for the inconvenience this has placed on our residents."

NY1 will keep you updated.
