A lack of running water had some Harlem tenants tapped out until they turned to NY1 For You for help. NY's Susan Jhun filed this report.

Relief is flowing through one building at The Taft Houses in East Harlem now that tenants have running water back.

"The communication is there and the water is there," says tenant Judee Livramento.

That wasn't the case a month ago when we met with the New York City Housing Authority residents who told us they hadn't had consistent running water since November.

"We're never told what exactly they're working on, how long it's going to take. You can't take a shower. You can't brush your teeth. You don't know whether you're going to be able to cook," Livramento says.

"No water for Thanksgiving dinner. No water to cook. No water to clean. Christmas same thing," says tenant Chyerel Coldwell.

At the time, we contacted NYCHA about the situation and a spokeswoman told us a water pump had to be replaced, which was after our call. However, she went on to say the issue is bigger than just replacing the pump. The spokeswoman said NYCHA sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and is doing everything possible to get to the root of the problem. Since our first story aired, tenants say  for the most part, they've had running water and when it is turned off, they're given advanced notice.

"It has been somewhat consistent since you guys aired and communication has been much better," Coldwell says.

"I wanted to thank you for coming out and sharing the story and as a result we were able to get help," Livramento says.

Residents say they still have concerns about the quality and pressure of the water and wonder when a permanent fix will be made. We will keep you updated.
