Some tour guides say a local sightseeing tour bus company has taken them for a ride. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following report.

After working for two years as an independent contractor tour guide with On Board Sight Seeing Tours, Altovise Cook is now jobless and owed a month's back pay.

"It's over $1,000,” said tour guide Altovise Cook

Cook says over the past two years her paychecks from On Board Sight Seeing would bounce, but the company would always reissue checks and eventually she would get paid. That was until the company was evicted in December, leaving her high and dry.

"The phone is still working. The website is still working and I've yet to hear from them. I want my money and I want my job. As you can see I'm prepared to go to work today,” said Cook.

NY1 contacted the CEO for the company and he admitted they're behind on paying vendors like Cook and other tour guides. The CEO said they will all be paid as the company gets over its temporary cash flow problems, which he attributes to too many bus tour companies entering the market.

We checked with the Department of Consumer Affairs and found On Board Sight Seeing Tours was licensed until 2010 when the license expired. In 2012, the DCA issued a violation to the tour company for unlicensed activity. Then in 2013, the agency re-inspected and found the business closed. Now On Board Sight Seeing Tours has re-applied for a license, which the DCA is in the process of reviewing.

NY1 contacted The New York State Department of Labor and a spokesman told us On Board Sight Seeing Tours is currently being investigated.
