After months of negotiations, the Metropolitan Opera and the stagehands union have reached a tentative five-year agreement ahead of the upcoming season.

The deal possibly averts a cancellation or delay to the start of the 2021- 2022 season.

It includes a 3% wage cut and a 4.5% annuity cut for three years.

The agreement brings more than 300 stage and shop crew members back to work.

But it's not a done deal yet, the agreement still need to be ratified.

The musicians union and several other entertainment unions still have to reach their own agreements as well.

The Met Opera season is slated to open in September with "Fire Shut Up in my Bones."
