NEW YORK - Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday revealed the city could enter Phase Two of its coronavirus reopening plan early next month and outdoor dining options likely to be included.

It comes as the city prepares to begin Phase One this Monday.

"We must move forward," De Blasio told reporters during his daily briefing Thursday.

He says the city will support small business in every way it can.

De Blasio says Phase Two could come as early as the first week of July and will include a new plan for restaurants and outdoor seating.

"We will provide a massive expansion of curbside seating, a massive expansion of open space," De Blasio said.

The mayor says his office will review the “Open Streets” plan to identify places with several restaurants where the entire street could be devoted to pedestrians and outdoor dining.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that outdoor dining will be allowed in Phase Two.

While a positive first step, "this is all just survival for restaurants," says Restaurateur Jon Neidich, also the owner of Le Crocodile at Williamsburg’s Wythe Hotel.

All in-house restaurant dining had originally been slated to begin in Phase Three.
