Less than two weeks before he is set to deliver his State of the State address, Governor Cuomo reveals that transparency in healthcare costs will be a priority for New York in 2020.

In a statement released today, Cuomo says he has directed the Department of Health and other state agencies to create a new website called NY Healthcare Compare.

The site will let users check the cost of various medical procedures and compare prices at various hospitals across the state.

It also will include information about hospital complaints and programs to help with bills and insurance.

Governor Cuomo said his reasoning is that, "the cost of many healthcare procedures has risen in recent years in part because consumers don't have an easy way to compare prices at different hospitals in their area.

This new website will give New Yorkers the facts they need to make informed decisions about the cost and quality of healthcare procedures, helping increase competition in the marketplace and driving down prices."
