A number of restaurants and stores around the city don't accept cash.
But that could change if Bronx Councilman Ritchie Torres gets his way.
The Councilman introduced a bill yesterday that would force restaurants and stores to accept cash along with credit cards, debit cards and electronic forms of payment.
Torres says cash-free businesses discriminate against customers who don't have access to bank accounts.
Violators would be subject to fines of up to $500.
