A local superintendent is being recognized as one of the best in the state.

Windsor school superintendent Jason Andrews was named superintendent of the year.

Andrews became Windsor Superintendent in 2006.

At that time he was also the youngest superintendent in the state.

Under his leadership, the district has had more than 60 million dollars of improvements.

He's also put a focus on after school programs and the arts, the district has been named as one of the best communities for music education. 

But Andrews gives most of the credit to the people who surround him.

"This honor is really about the achievement of our students, and the hard work that's done with our staff. But, also our entire communnity our robost partnerships that we have and the incredible support from the community are really reflected in this award." said Jason Andrews, Windsor Central School District Superintendent

Andrews is now a contender for the National Superintendent of the Year.

That award will be announced in February.
