NEW YORK - Flavored E-cigarettes may soon be banned in New York.

The Wall Street Journal says Governor Andrew Cuomo is moving to ban their sale in the state and could do it as early as next year.

A spokesman for Cuomo tells the Journal the governor is very concerned about the rise of e-cigarette use among young people.

E-cigarettes are generally considered a less dangerous alternative to regular cigarettes, but they do contain nicotine.

The Food and Drug Administration is also looking to create strict limits on the sale of most flavored e-cigarettes across the country.

But if Cuomo's regulations are adopted, New York would be the first state to completely ban their sale.
