NEW YORK - The New York Times is throwing its support behind Governor Andrew Cuomo with just days to go until the election.

The paper published an endorsement that highlights Cuomo's accomplishments in office.

It praised him for increasing the minimum wage and implementing paid family leave.

The Times acknowledges Cuomo's failure to fix the subways and address corruption in Albany.

But the editorial board says voters would be best served by re-electing him.

It writes: "He is better positioned to lead this diverse, dynamic state, particularly at a time in which too many of its residents -- immigrants, minorities and the poor and middle class -- are under attack from a hostile adminstration in Washington."

As for Cuomo's Republican challenger Marc Molinaro, the paper commended his mostly positive campaign and his advocacy for special needs children.

But his stances on gun control and raising taxes were a dealbreaker.
