NEW YORK - More New Yorkers are contracting sexually transmitted diseases, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

A new report finds there were more than 23,000 cases of gonorrhea reported in the city last year.

That's an increase of more than 23 percent compared to 2016, and nearly double the number of cases from 2010.

Cases of chlamydia were up 7.5 percent.

Experts say the increases are in line with national numbers.

They attribute the spikes in part to increased screening, and decreased condom use.
