Community members in Syracuse came together to call for an end to violence.

A vigil was held Friday for the six victims injured in two shootings Thursday night.

Five people were shot on Midland Avenue, including am 8-year-old girl. A 14-year-old girl was also shot on Furman Street.

All the victims are expected to recover.

People at the vigil said they're trying to channel their frustration into transformation, especially when it comes to young people.

"Today couldn't go to school, whom can't go play with her brothers and sisters and her cousins and sleep in the comfort of her own room because of some individual who tried to be God. To know that something like that is happening in my city? I am very angry," said Nitch Jones, who organized the vigil.

Police still haven't released much information on either shooting, including the victims' names or if they have any suspects in the case.

They also haven't said yet if the two shootings are related.
