Four boys who were allegedly abused in a Brooklyn church have reached a $27.5 million settlement with the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The boys were allegedly abused by Angelo Serrano, who taught at St. Lucy-St. Patrick Catholic Church in Clinton Hill. He pleaded guilty in 2011 to inappropriate sexual conduct with a child, and is currently serving a 15-year sentence.

The abuse of the four boys allegedly happened inside the church, in Serrano's on-site apartment and at an after-school program.

Attorneys for the boys say the church did nothing to prevent the abuse.

"The church missed numerous warning signs, the most egregious being one of the priests who actually witnessed Angelo Serrano, the abuser, kiss an 8- or 9-year-old boy on the mouth in the church office. He saw it, he didn't ask the child who his name was, he didn't ask the child if he was OK, and what's worse is, this priest never reported what he witnessed," said Attorney Peter Saghir.

Church officials say they do not contest the boys were abused but deny that the church had a role in it.

Each of the four boys abused by Serrano will receive approximately $6.8 million.
