SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Ride for Missing Children is looking for more participants, volunteers and support.

This year's event takes place Friday, September 28.

Riders will travel 100 miles through Onondaga and Cayuga counties.

It starts and finishes at the CNY Family Sports Centre in Baldwinsville.

Volunteers are encouraged to hold up signs and take part in a special silent tribute throughout downtown Syracuse.

"We could use a couple of extra hands holding posters of missing children. Kids that are missing right today across New York state.  So, there's lots of ways that you can get involved.  And, at least give us a cheer as we're coming through your community," said Ed Suk of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

At last check of the annual numbers for Onondaga County, more than 400 children were reported missing and a little over 1,900 were reported as abused or mistreated.

If you wish to ride in the event, you must sign up by Friday, September 21. For route info and ways to help, just visit the ride's website.
