GREENSBORO, N.C. -- As people across the state prepare for Hurricane Florence, those not leaving their homes are preparing them to weather the storm.

  • Storm clean up professionals advise everyone to trim the branches of trees
  • Homeowners should also clear their basements
  • Pick things off of the floor to prevent molding

Storm clean up professionals are advising everyone to trim the branches of trees around their homes to prevent them from damaging homes and cars. They’re also reminding people to not forget to clear their basements too.

Ben McDonald, owner of the Service Team Professionals in Winston-Salem says, "The basements are going to flood. If you have a basement I would say you have a 50/50 chance of having a flood in it."

To deal with flooding and help prevent mold you're advised to pick things off the ground and get things a few inches off the ground.
