A man known for helping those in need in Central New York is being remembered by those who worked alongside him.

Clarence Jordan died Saturday at the age of 88.

He served the community for the last 50 years, spending most of that time as the Rescue Mission's executive director.

Jordan had also been the lead fund developer at Mercy Works since 2006.

His colleagues there say he truly cared about helping those around him.

"You'll probably hear it over and over again, with anyone you talk to about Clarence. Clarence just exuded passion, he loved people, he was a great listener, he had really good ideas, he was a constant advocate for young people and people in need,” said Mark Haywood, Mercy House manager.

Mercy Works is throwing a gala in his honor next Saturday.
