Focusing on economic, education and workforce development, the city held a summit at the Riverfront Convention Center Wednesday morning.

UNC Public Media North Carolina introduced their "CARE" initiative to New Bern community leaders in an effort to teach the city new skills to grow.

“If we don’t talk together, we can’t walk together," said UNC-TV Chief Content Officer Trais Mitchell. "So we think it’s really important to get people to the table who bring a diversity of perspectives and ideas, along with cultural realities to the table.”

The city says its 400 non-profit organizations play an important role in bringing New Bern to its highest potential.
