The Mid-Island Little Leaguers from Staten Island are headed to the Little League World Series after they beat the Berlin Little League team from Maryland Sunday afternoon in Bristol, Connecticut.

Starting pitcher Gregory Bruno, the son of a retired New York City firefighter, pitched a perfect game.

Bruno struck out 12 hitters in six innings.

The team took the lead and never looked back in the third inning, when a ball into the gap scored two runs.

The team would go on to win by a final score of 4-0.

The team now moves on to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where the Little League World Series tournament begins on Thursday.
