SAN ANTONIO – A driver has been arrested, accused of intoxication manslaughter after a man was killed and four people were injured in a crash on Friday.

At 2 a.m. an SUV pulling out of parking lot hit a white sedan and sent it over a curb and into a ditch on West Loop 1604.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as Mario Velasquez Palau. A female passenger of the sedan is critically injured and two male passengers were seriously injured. 

Police said the driver of the SUV was also injured and transported to University Hospital where he was assessed for a DWI.

According to San Antonio police, the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash and is facing one charge for intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.
