NEW YORK - A proposed Upper West Side skyscraper has gotten the go ahead, despite objections from neighbors.

The plans call for a 668-foot luxury condo building on Amsterdam Avenue at 69th Street.

It would be twice as tall as nearby highrises, and the top floors would offer unobstructed views of Central Park.

After it was approved by the Buildings Department, neighborhood groups appealed to the city's Board of Standards and Appeals, saying the zoning lot was not up to code.

Neighbors lost that argument, but say they're now discussing plans for a lawsuit.

Borough President Gale Brewer and other local officials issued a joint statement, saying they were disappointed in the BSA's decision adding, "The proposal at 200 Amsterdam Avenue in particular, undermine the integrity of the land use process and open up new loopholes. Today's decision is a setback, but it is not the final word."

Meantime, developers plan to start sales at the property this fall.
