A West Coast brand plants its first roots in New York.

In June, Alo Yoga debuted a 15,000-square-foot retail, cafe and studio space in SoHo.

It’s designed to be an all-in-one destination for the yoga lifestyle.

“We’re building these sanctuaries that are significantly bigger than most people are expecting,” Alo Yoga CEO Danny Harris said.

And they’ve got company.

Alo isn’t the only yoga lifestyle brand opening up in the neighborhood.

In fact, just a few blocks from here - about four blocks to be exact - Bandier, another yoga luxury brand, is also opening up a massive location.

There’s a lot of Yoga in this part of Manhattan.

With the new Alo store up and running on Spring Street, Bandier’s 20,000-square-foot store is coming to Broadway in August.

There are also four LuluLemon locations nearby, along with around a dozen independent studios.

Lifestyle brands, like Alo, are part of the ‘athleisure’ market, which has been exploding in recent years.

While still lucrative, growth has slowed consistently since 2015 -- a sign that the industry could be getting overstretched.

Here in the crowded New York market, Alo says it’s West Coast vibes and emphasis on ‘mindfulness’ will set it apart.

“Let’s get together, let’s have some organic coffee or kombucha," Harris said. "Let’s practice yoga upstairs. And here’s some great product that’s going to help you practice.”

Not to mention, Insta-famous yogis like the Chin Twins as brand ambassadors.

“I believe they’ve brought a little bit of LA to New York. They have, it’s very west coast in a good way. You have the bright sunshine, tall ceilings, I love these beautiful windows, you’re not walking up dark staircases. It makes you feel like you’re on a sunny beach," the Chin Twins said.

“New York is a go go go community, however I feel it’s important that people take some time to exercise…take an hour out of the day to get a great physical workout, but also quiet the mind and be present,” Harris said.
