BLANCO, Texas – Two people are in custody after weapons, drugs and military supplies were found in their possession, prompting a bomb investigation Monday night.

Around 6:50 p.m. Blanco police were called to the Lake of the Hills subdivision for a possible explosive device. With an eye on the suspect, police waited for the Blanco County Sheriff’s deputies to arrive.

However, before BCSO made it to the scene, the suspect took off following a second vehicle heading south on U.S. 281. Officers stopped and searched both vehicles.

The driver of the second vehicle was arrested for local warrants. A K-9 also identified drugs in the car, including five grams of meth.

The suspect, Jimmy Lower, was arrested after police discovered he had meth and weapons in his possession.

While searching Lower’s car, a piece of military ordnance was discovered inside. Police immediately stopped searching the vehicle and called the Austin Police Department's Bomb Squad to the scene.

The team determined the device was not a high-powered weapon, but a piece of military ordnance, or military supplies.

A search of Lower’s home revealed more weapons and narcotics. Felony charges have been filed against Lower.
