City firefighters battled a blaze in Lower Manhattan on Saturday evening after roofing material caught fire, the FDNY said.

 

The city fire department responded to the building on Greenwich St. near Gansevoort St. in Greenwich Village around 8:45 p.m.

Officials said flames broke out on an extension of a penthouse apartment.

No injuries were reported. The fire department got the flames under control in less than two hours.
