SAN ANTONIO — One man is in custody after a deputy-involved shooting Sunday.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:40 a.m. a deputy was flagged down for a report of an individual who brandished a weapon during a road rage incident on Northwest Loop 410 and Northwest Crossroads.

The deputy spotted the vehicle, attempted to make a traffic stop, at which time a pursuit began in the area of NW Loop 410 and State Highway 151.

As deputies continued pursuing the vehicle as it went into a residential subdivision in the area of Culebra Road and Ensenada. After the vehicle led deputies on a pursuit through the residential subdivision, multiple shots were fired at the vehicle after driving towards a deputy.

The vehicle then drove out of the residential subdivision heading southbound on Westover Hills Blvd. Around 3:50 a.m., the vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of Westover Hills Boulevard and State Highway 151. The suspect, 21-year-old Pedro Edwardo Martinez was taken into custody without incident.

There were no injuries sustained to either BCSO Deputies or the suspect as a result of the shooting.

Marinez will be charged with evading arrest, detention with a motor vehicle, unlawful carry of a weapon, aggravated assault of a public servant and two counts of terroristic threat.

The two deputies involved in the shooting are a 13-year veteran and a 5-year veteran with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Both deputies will be placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation, as is  policy.
