RALEIGH, N.C. -- All westbound lanes of Interstate 440 in Raleigh were closed Tuesday night after a pedestrian was hit and killed.

  • Victim identified as Jason Long, of Maryland.
  • Police say he was wearing dark clothing and in the middle of the highway.
  • Highway reopened after investigation was complete.

It happened between the New Bern Avenue and Brentwood Road exits just before 9:30 p.m.

Police say Jason Long, of Hagerstown, Maryland, was in the middle of the highway and wearing dark clothing.

Two vehicles swerved to avoid Long but a third car was unable to miss him. 

The highway reopen after the scene was cleared.
