Metropolitan Transportation Authority workers may soon be wearing body cameras for their safety.

According to the New York Post, the transport workers union demanded the cameras after the latest attack on a subway conductor.

The 60-year-old worker was assaulted yesteday morning, suffering a head wound and cuts on his face.

Transit union leaders say at least seven MTA workers have been attacked in the past month.

They say the footage captured will help authorities identify and arrest suspects.

The MTA would pay for the cameras, but workers would be able to decide if they want to wear the cameras.

Cameras would also be installed on train cabs.

MTA chair Joe Lhota tells the Post that the agency is willing to install these cameras.

The union is also asking law enforcment officals to proscute attacks on workers as felonies.
