New numbers show people sleeping on the streets is on the decline, according to the city's annual survey.

The HOPE Count conducted in January counted 3,675 homeless people on city streets. That's 6 percent fewer than last year, and 16 percent fewer than the first count in 2005.

The city says the drop reflects the work of outreach teams, increasing the number of available beds in shelters, and an increase in city funding for homeless programs.
