AUSTIN, Texas —  Travis County Sheriff’s Office reports that a woman walking through a North Austin apartment complex was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on June 9, the female victim, walking through the Churchill Crossing apartment complex in the 14100 block of Thermal Drive, was attacked.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect asked the victim for money then pulled her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her, stabbed her and then stole her cell phone as he fled the area on foot.

Suspect description:

  • Black male with light complexion, 5 foot, 6 inches tall
  • Approximately 30 years old, medium build, straight hair and goatee
  • Was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and brown jacket
  • Smelled of alcohol

An initial investigation led detectives to a person of interest who has since been ruled out as a suspect.

TCSO is warning the public that the suspect is at large and requests that anyone with information about the suspect or the incident contact the tip line at 512-854-1444.

The victim is currently hospitalized in good condition.
