A city sanitation driver was arrested Saturday after police say he crashed into several parked cars in Brooklyn while drunk behind the wheel.

The city police department said the driver of the garbage truck, which was traveling around 60th St. and 19th Ave. in Mapleton around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into several parked cars before jumping the curb and striking a building.

According to authorities, the driver, Anthony Castaldo, attempted to flee the scene.

Police said they tased him and brought him to Maimonides Medical Center, along with an officer who fell and was injured while chasing after Castaldo.

Officials said no one was in the parked cars.

Castaldo faces multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
