A Bronx man has been arrested in connection to the death of a three-year-old boy, the city police department said Saturday.

Kenneth Lynch, 36, has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the death of Messiah Allen.

Police said officers found Messiah unconscious with bruises on his face and body at the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview on Thursday night. The child was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner had ruled Messiah's death a homicide and said his death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries.

Sources said Lynch is the boyfriend of the child's mother, and he had initially called 911. Lynch was apprehended in Manhattan on Friday night, sources said.

Messiah's godmother, Althea Johnson, said she had seen signs of abuse, and said the boy's mother and her boyfriend should be held responsible.

"Like I told the person who I spoke to on the phone with ACS [Administration for Children's Services], that even if she didn't put her hands on him, she's just as guilty because you allowed this man to do this, you allowed this to happen to him," Johnson said.

Police and the Administration for Children's Services are investigating.
