A man punched a subway conductor in the face through an open window on an F train in Manhattan early Monday morning, the NYPD said.

Police say it happened around 1:20 a.m. at the 7th Avenue station near  West 53rd Street.

Authorities say the conductor, whose full name was not released, was not seriously hurt but was taken to the hospital for observation.

The MTA addressed the incident, saying, "Transit employees like Mr. Tucker work hard at a difficult and often thankless job to provide an essential service to millions of New Yorkers. This senseless attack should be prosecuted aggressively and we hope that anyone with information will help police find the perpetrator."
