NEW YORK - The Knicks have a new head coach.

A person with knowledge of the deal tells the Associated Press that David Fizdale agreed to a deal to become the team's next coach.

That person spoke anonymously because the deal has not been officially announced.

Fizdale led the Grizzlies to the playoffs in his first season as a head coach in 2017, but was fired in November after a clash with the team's star.

Before that, he was a longtime assistant with several franchises.

He never played in the NBA.

He's the 29th coach in franchise history and 11th since 2002.

He replaces Jeff Hornacek who was fired last month after winning just 60 games in two seasons.
