HUDSON, Fla. -- A 47-year-old man angry about stolen socks attacked two people with a sword, Pasco County deputies say.

  • Brandon Donald McCray accused of injuring man, woman
  • McCray was angry someone stole his socks, deputies said

Deputies said Brandon Donald McCray was upset with a man and woman at a home in the 13000 block of Lauderdale Street in Hudson Monday.

Stolen socks apparently set him off, deputies said.

McCray, who deputies said thought someone stole his socks, attacked a 53-year-old man with a sword. The man suffered serious lacerations to both hands and forearms from defending himself.

Then McCray turned the sword on his former live-in girlfriend, striking the 43-year-old woman in the thigh.

Authorities said after another struggle with the man, McCray then hid the sword and left the home.

Deputies took McCray into custody just before 10 p.m. at a neighbor's home.

Both victims were taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point with nonlife-threatening injuries.

McCray has been charged with attempted homicide and domestic felony battery.
