Mayor Bill de Blasio is investing more than $5 million as the city fights sexual harassment in city schools.

The city will use the money to hire eight investigators to look into sexual harassment claims at the Department of Education.

The funding comes after new numbers released last week showed 471 complaints were filed within the DOE between 2014 and 2017.

Only seven of those claims were substantiated.

The mayor acknowledged there was a problem, but suggested the numbers were overblown.

That caused a backlash from teachers and education officials.

The mayor later clarified his remarks, saying everyone who comes forward with a sexual harassment complaint deserves to be believed.
