An 85-year-old woman was killed, and a 90-year-old man was critically hurt, after a man hit them with a car in Brooklyn on Tuesday, officials said.

It happened around 2:55 p.m. at a car wash on Gerritsen Ave. and Avenue U in Gerritsen Beach.

Police said a 61-year-old man who works at the car wash was trying to move the car but hit the gas instead of braking, striking the victims, who were standing behind their car.

Authorities said the victims had been surveying damage to the back of their car after a black Jeep Liberty had rear-ended their vehicle while leaving the car wash.

NYPD officials said responding officers found the 85-year-old, Joan M Tornabene, unconscious with severe injuries to her head and body. The 90-year-old also had significant trauma to his head and body.

Tornabene was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said the worker did not leave the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

The 90-year-old's identity has not been released at this time.
