A Harlem street was renamed Saturday in honor of a Tuskegee Airman who died in 2016.

The corner of West 136th St. and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard now bears the name of Dabney Montgomery, the late Tuskegee Airman who lived in Harlem with his wife for decades.

"I cannot even begin to tell you, there aren't enough adjectives to tell you what I think of this day," said Amelia Montgomery, Dabney's widow. "It's here. When we were planning it, it looked like it was so far away. Now it's here and now that I'm able to get into it, it's over."

Dozens of people from around the country attended the ceremony to honor a man who family and friends said was very involved in his community.

Montgomery never had biological children of his own, but he was a father figure to many who affectionately called him "Uncle Dab."

The ceremony for Montgomery was hosted by NY1's Cheryl Wills.
