The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is reassuring riders they will have plenty of options when a pair of stations on the Upper West Side closes for repairs next month.

NYC Transit President Andy Byford took questions about the agency's enhanced station initiative during a meeting Thursday night.

Commuters complained that the revamp is mostly cosmetic and has no direct impact on subway service.

It will close the 72nd street and 86th street B and C stations along Central Park West starting next month.

Combined with the shutdown of the West 110th and 163rd Street stations, more than 10,000 riders will be affected.

Byford says there are plenty of transit alternatives at their disposal.

"I'm a user of the 1 train or until recently I was. There is capacity on the 1 line so we would see people who are able to use the subway, to use the subway, it's a fairly short walk to alternatives and there are other existing bus routes includes the M104," Byford said.

The stations are scheduled to re-open in September.
