Family and friends of a Brooklyn man killed in a police-involved shooting earlier this month paid their final respects Thursday.

The Crown Heights community gathered at St. Anthony's church for the viewing of 34-year-old Saheed Vassell.

On April 5, Vassell was shot by police after pointing what looked like a gun at pedestrians.

Police later determined the silver object was a part of a welding torch.

Officers shot 10 rounds after police say Vassell refused to drop the object.

Those who knew him say he suffered from mental illness.

"Saheed wasn't going to hurt nobody. That wasn't in Saheed's nature. Okay Saheed had a bad day. But it cost him his life. So you know. I just don't think it was called for. I don't think it was justified," said one mourner.

Vassell's funeral will be held in Crown Heights Friday at 10 a.m.
