Two NYPD officers are being hailed as heroes after saving a child from choking.

It happened Wednesday during the police academy graduation at Madison Square Garden.

The 1-year-old son of graduating Officer Leonardo Escorcia started choking on a piece of popcorn.

Lieutenant Greg Besson and Detective Mark Rubins saw what was happening and stepped in to help.

Detective Rubins is also a paramedic. He helped clear the child's airway by patting his back.

The boy was then taken to the hospital for evaluation.
