NEW YORK - The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is putting more pressure on train crews to report reasons for subway delays.

A bulletin was issued Tuesday saying workers would be "held strictly responsible" for reporting delays.

It also said crews had to explain the reason face-to-face with dispatchers.

Workers are now worried the in-depth delay reporting will cut into their break times.

This follows a report released last month by The Daily News, saying the MTA was giving false reasons for delays.

At the time of the report, Transit President Andy Byford said the delay categories would be reviewed.

The MTA released a statement saying in part, "this directive is nothing new, with versions of it dating back to the early 1980s, and by now it's standard operating procedure that’s well-known to train crews. The goal has always been to capture accurate and comprehensive information about train trips that are delayed."
