A paramedic with the city fire department was arrested Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in an ambulance, police said.

Karel Delgado, 36, was charged Monday afternoon. Police said Delgado sexually assaulted a 43-year-old woman in an ambulance Saturday around midnight.

Sources told NY1 that the woman was being transported to Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx.

Police said it is unclear what she was being transported for, or if she was conscious during the alleged assault, which was not reported until Sunday around 5:45 p.m.

Delgado — who sources said has been with the city fire department for ten years — faces charges that include sexual abuse.

The fire department said Delgado faces a maximum suspension of 30 days without pay.
