The MTA has cut 13 stations from its list of those meant to be upgraded, blaming rising costs.

The repairs were part of a $936 million program that originally included 33 stations.

Transit advocates have criticized the plan for focusing on what they call cosmetic improvements like new station entrances, lighting and charging ports.

The MTA blames the rising costs on unexpected structural work on columns and platforms.

The $90 million left over once work is finished will be used to make one more subway stop accessible to riders with disabilities.
