A Department of Transportation worker was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx on Wednesday morning, the city police department said.

Police said DOT electrician George Staab, 57, was struck on the southbound side of the parkway near exit 4N around 10:27 a.m.

Officers said they found him with trauma to his head after he was hit on the right shoulder of the parkway. Staab was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.

The driver of the car that hit Staab was a 62-year-old man who lost control of his car, according to the preliminary investigation. He remained on the scene.

That driver was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with life non-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating, but there are no signs of criminality, according to the mayor's office.

Staab had been on the job since 2014.
