A Brooklyn teen was indicted on attempted murder and assault charges after allegedly shooting a child who was sitting in a van in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors say 16-year-old Tajay Richards allegedly fired his gun during rush hour back on February 26 near Flatlands Ave and East 83rd Street in Canarsie.

Richards admitted he had aimed his gun at a group of individuals.

The bullet hit a 8-year-old girl in the back of her head leaving her in critical condition.

In a statement, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said "Senseless gun violence will never be tolerated in Brooklyn and this defendant will now face the consequences of his poor choices."

If convicted, Richards could serve up to 25 years behind bars.
