BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Sugar Mountain looks like a winter wonderland again and skiers are hitting the slopes.

They started to pile into the resort on Saturday waiting for their turn to head down the mountain. More skiers means more businesses seeing a profit.

When temperatures started to rise and snow started to melt at this resort weeks ago, businesses say they got nervous.

Bella’s Breakfast and Lunch waitress Marisa Cornett says the longer the resort is open, the more French toast they make.

“We see most people when the ski resorts are open,” she says. “It's a pretty big difference.”

They say are hoping sugar can keep the snow moving and the skiers flowing down the mountain for a little while longer.
